What You'll See Inside Our Plan Comparison Tool: A Walkthrough

ZIP code in, side-by-side plans out. A plain-English walkthrough of the comparison tool on this site — what each screen shows and what to pay attention to.

Step one: your ZIP code does the heavy lifting

Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are approved county by county, so everything starts with where you live. Enter your ZIP code and the tool pulls the plans actually offered at your address — not a national average, not a teaser rate from another state. This is why the same carrier can look completely different two counties apart.

From Compare Plans, choose Medicare, and either share your info for follow-up help or use the skip link to browse anonymously — both paths land in the same tool.

The screens that matter

The plan list shows each plan's monthly premium, deductibles, and maximum out-of-pocket side by side — the structural numbers that determine your worst-case year, which matter far more than the premium alone. Open any plan for its full benefit detail: copays by service, drug tiers, and the extras like dental, vision, and hearing allowances.

The two features worth slowing down for: the provider lookup, where you check whether your actual doctors are in the plan's network, and the drug entry, where you list your prescriptions and see what each plan would charge for them. Five minutes there tells you more than an hour of brochure reading.

Browse first, ask questions later — or never

Plenty of people use the tool the way they'd use a travel site: look around, get the lay of the land, close the tab, come back in October. That's a completely legitimate way to use it, and you don't owe anyone a phone call for it.

When questions do come up — a doctor showing out-of-network, a drug on a weird tier, Medigap versus Advantage — that's what we're here for. Consultations are free and pressure-free, and our guide library covers most questions in writing if you'd rather keep it self-service all the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the tool ask for my ZIP code first?

Plans are approved and priced county by county, so your ZIP determines which plans exist for you at all. It's the one piece of information the comparison genuinely can't work without.

Can I check my specific doctors and drugs in the tool?

Yes — the provider lookup verifies your doctors against each plan's network, and the drug entry prices your actual prescription list under each plan. Those two checks are the heart of a real comparison.

Do I have to enroll or talk to someone after browsing?

No. Browse, close the tab, come back whenever — no obligation, no follow-up unless you asked for it. If you want help interpreting what you saw, a free consultation is available, but it's entirely your choice.
