Common Questions About This Quiz
Who is this quiz for?
Any Wyoming or Utah resident who wants to understand their health insurance options — whether you're turning 65, self-employed, early-retired, or currently uninsured.
Is the quiz free?
Yes. Jenkins Insurance & Retirement is an independent practice compensated by insurers, never by the people we help. The quiz and any consultation are 100% free to you.
What's the difference between Medicare and the ACA Marketplace?
Medicare is a federal health program primarily for people 65+ (or those with qualifying disabilities). The ACA Marketplace is for individuals and families under 65 who don't have employer coverage. Income-based subsidies on the Marketplace can significantly reduce monthly premiums.
Do I need Medigap if I have Medicare?
Original Medicare covers 80% of most costs — you pay the remaining 20% with no annual cap. A Medigap (Medicare Supplement) plan covers most of that gap, giving you predictable costs and protection against large bills. Most people on Original Medicare benefit from Medigap.
What is Medicare Advantage and how is it different from Original Medicare?
Medicare Advantage (Part C) is an all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare offered by private insurance companies. It often has $0 premiums and includes dental, vision, and hearing, but uses a network of doctors and hospitals. Original Medicare lets you see any Medicare-accepting provider nationwide.
Can I switch plans after I enroll?
Yes — Medicare has Annual Enrollment Periods, and the ACA Marketplace has Open Enrollment each fall. There are also special enrollment periods triggered by life events (job loss, moving, marriage, etc.). An advisor can help you understand your switching options.
