Health Insurance Options for Central Wyoming College Students
CWC serves Riverton, Lander, and the Wind River country — including outreach as far as Jackson — and its students' coverage options range wider than at any other Wyoming campus, especially for tribal members.
The CWC Situation
Your realistic options as a CWC student
Community colleges typically don't offer their own student health insurance plans (confirm current offerings with CWC directly). The standard Wyoming lineup applies — parent plan, job coverage, healthcare.gov — with the standard Wyoming caveat that Medicaid isn't available to most childless adults because the state hasn't expanded it.
But Fremont County adds an option most Wyoming pages never mention: members of federally recognized tribes have special Marketplace rules that are genuinely generous:

The starting point for younger Rustlers. Confirm the network covers Fremont County providers — plans anchored in other parts of the state don't always reach Riverton and Lander.
Tribal member provisions on the Marketplace
Members of federally recognized tribes can enroll on healthcare.gov year-round (no Open Enrollment deadline) and, below roughly 300% of the federal poverty level, pay zero cost-sharing on Marketplace plans — powerful benefits alongside IHS access, which is care but not insurance.
A subsidized Marketplace plan
Wyoming premium tax credits start at 100% of the federal poverty level on healthcare.gov. Part-time income usually qualifies — estimate the whole year, including seasonal swings.
Coverage through your job
Working students should weigh any employer offer first; gaining or losing job coverage opens a 60-day Special Enrollment Period regardless of the calendar.
